A homeowner typically calls about a leak after noticing a higher water bill, a damp spot on a wall or ceiling, or the sound of running water when everything is off. A slow leak can go unnoticed for weeks, soaking into framing, drywall, or concrete. The situation is urgent because water damage gets worse the longer it hides.
We start by isolating the water supply to the affected area. Then we use visual inspection, moisture meters, and sometimes a pressure test to find the exact leak location. For slab leaks, we may use electronic listening equipment. Once found, we expose the pipe by cutting drywall or concrete, replace the damaged section with new copper or PEX, and test the repair under pressure.
The difficulty of a leak repair depends on whether the pipe is in an open ceiling, inside a wall, or under a concrete slab. A dripping faucet is quick to reach, while a slab leak requires cutting through concrete and careful restoration. The age of the piping and the type of material—copper, galvanized steel, or PEX—also affects the repair method and time needed.
On the day of the repair, we lay down drop cloths and use plastic sheeting to contain dust. We shut off the water at the main valve before starting. After the repair, we test for leaks, patch any holes we made, and clean up all debris. Homeowners should clear the area around the leak and keep pets and children away from the work zone.
We use a listening disc and ground microphone to hear the hiss of water escaping from a pressurized pipe, even through concrete.
A leak under a concrete foundation requires jackhammering a small access hole, repairing the pipe, and patching the concrete.

We listen to your description, then use moisture meters and pressure tests to find the exact leak point with minimal damage.
We cut a small opening in drywall, flooring, or concrete to reach the damaged pipe, keeping the opening as small as possible.
We remove the damaged section, solder a new copper fitting or crimp a PEX coupling, then pressure-test the repair.
We patch the opening, turn the water back on, check for drips, and clean up all debris before leaving.

A hidden leak feeds mold inside walls and under floors. Fixing it quickly stops spores from spreading and keeps your indoor air clean.
Water rots wood framing, rusts steel supports, and weakens concrete. A proper repair stops structural damage before it becomes costly.
A single dripping faucet can waste hundreds of gallons a month. Sealing the leak brings your bill back to normal and saves water.
