The work

About our leak repair

When you notice a water stain on your ceiling, a damp patch on the floor, or your water bill creeping up for no reason, you likely have a plumbing leak. It might be a dripping faucet you can hear at night or a hidden slab leak you can't see. Either way, the situation calls for prompt attention to stop water waste and prevent damage to walls, floors, and your home's foundation.

Our crew begins by shutting off the water supply to the affected area. We then inspect the leak site using visual checks, a pressure gauge to test line integrity, and sometimes a simple listening device to trace water flow. For slab leaks, we may use a thermal camera to find the hot pipe. Once located, we cut out the damaged section, replace it with new copper or PEX tubing, and secure joints with crimp rings or solder. We then test the repair by turning the water back on and checking for drips.

The cost and time for a leak repair depend on several factors. The main one is access: a leak under a sink is quick, while one inside a concrete slab or behind a tiled shower wall requires cutting through material and patching it afterwards. The size of the leak matters too—a pinhole is easier than a burst pipe. The condition of the old pipe, whether it's corroded copper or brittle galvanized steel, can add time. Weather plays no role indoors, but outdoor leaks in frozen ground may slow excavation.

On the day of the repair, our crew lays down drop cloths to protect your floors and furniture. We keep the work area tidy and vacuum up debris as we go. Before we arrive, you should clear the area around the leak and remove any items from under the sink or near the wall. After the repair, we ask you to wait a few hours before running water to let sealants or solder set. We also suggest you monitor the repaired spot for the next 24 hours to ensure it stays dry.

Slab Leak Detection

We use thermal imaging and listening discs to pinpoint leaks under concrete foundations without unnecessary jackhammering.

PEX vs Copper Repair

For older copper pipes, we often replace the damaged section with flexible PEX tubing, which resists corrosion and freeze cracks.

How the job runs

Our 4-step leak repair process

01

Shut Off & Inspect

We turn off the water at the main valve or local shutoff. Then we visually inspect the area and use a pressure gauge to confirm the leak's location.

02

Access & Expose

We open the wall, floor, or cabinet to reach the leak. For slab leaks, we cut a small access hole in the concrete with a saw.

03

Remove & Replace

We cut out the damaged pipe section, then install new copper or PEX tubing. Joints are secured with solder, crimp rings, or push-fit fittings.

04

Test & Restore

We turn the water back on and check for drips. We patch the access hole with drywall or concrete, then clean up the work area.

The difference

Why Brayden's Plumbing for leak repair

  • Prevent Rot & Mold

A hidden leak saturates wood framing and drywall, leading to rot and mold growth. Fixing the leak promptly stops the moisture source before structural damage sets in.

  • Protect Your Foundation

Slab leaks erode the soil beneath your concrete foundation, causing settling and cracks. Repairing the pipe early avoids costly foundation leveling down the road.

  • Stop Water Waste

A slow drip can waste thousands of gallons a year. Repairing the leak immediately lowers your water bill and conserves a valuable resource.
